Key Price Drivers

Solar and Industrial Demand

Industrial silver demand fell 3% in 2025; solar thrifting and substitution matter alongside growth in end markets

Persistent Supply Deficit

The April 2026 World Silver Survey forecasts another annual deficit in 2026; an estimated shortfall is not a price floor

Gold Correlation and Safe-Haven

Silver responds to both investment and industrial demand, with scope for sharp gains and losses

US Dollar and Interest Rates

A weaker dollar and falling real yields reduce the opportunity cost of holding silver

Silver price context and outlook

Silver spent most of the early 2020s trading in a frustratingly tight range relative to gold, stuck between roughly $22 and $30 per ounce despite mounting supply deficits. The industrial demand story was building quietly underneath – solar panels, EVs, AI data center components, and power grid infrastructure were all steadily absorbing more of the white metal – but the price wasn’t reflecting it yet.

A strong silver rally still needs to be read alongside the demand data. The World Silver Survey 2026, published in April, records industrial use of 657.4 million ounces in 2025, down 3% from 2024. A rising price does not mean every source of consumption is growing.

Silver market size

Solar manufacturers are reducing silver use per cell and exploring substitutes. The April survey forecasts total industrial silver demand of 639.6 million ounces in 2026. More installed solar capacity can therefore coexist with lower metal consumption: track silver intensity as well as deployment.

For an investor, a supply deficit is one part of the case. Available inventories, recycling and investment flows can change the price response. Our reading: a deficit does not establish a minimum price or remove the possibility of losses. The physical silver investment guide weighs that demand story against volatility and ownership costs.

From interest to ownership

Know what you own.
Know what it costs.

A good investment case is only the start. The purchase documents, custody arrangement and route to resale matter just as much.

Choose the form

Compare the metal, bar or coin size, purity and premium. A smaller unit may be easier to sell in part, while its premium per ounce may be higher.

Check the ownership

Ask whether you own identified metal or hold a claim on a provider. Review custody records, insurance terms and the process for withdrawing or transferring it.

Price the whole journey

Compare the purchase premium, ongoing charges and a realistic resale quote. Ask about minimum fees, tax, currency conversion and delivery before committing.
